Teenagers pipped at the post

A TEAM of eight teenagers from a Warrington high school has narrowly missed out on a place in this year’s Fieldfare Kielder Challenge Finals.
The Challenge is a unique outdoor adventure competition for youngsters with and without physical, learning and sensory disabilities organised by outdoor access charity, Fieldfare Trust, and is supported by HSBC in the Community.
The team from Birchwood High School scored highly in the North East and North West region in the regional heat at Haigh Hall but fell just short of achieving one of 12 Grand Final places.
Fieldfare Trust project officer, Andy Johnson said: “It was a very close call this year. The judges had a tough job as the standard of entries has been outstanding, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough for Birchwood to get through.”
More than 300 teams entered the Challenge this year but only 12 teams will be competing at the finals in Kielder Forest in Northumberland this September.
