A “GREEN” day at Warrington Market is being hailed a huge success by Town Hall chiefs.
The outdoor event promoted sustainable, eco-friendly living and provided useful information and advice on domestic energy and recycling to help everyone live a cleaner, greener life.
Council staff gave away energy efficient light bulbs and customers were rewarded with free bags for life.
There was a broad range of stalls offering green products, fair-trade goods and several traders went outside the market for the day to promote their local produce.
Coun Bob Barr, the borough council’s executive member for planning, regeneration and housing said: “This was a really successful event and very popular with customers. It gave us the opportunity to highlight a variety of green issues, and judging by customer comments on the day this is something that is important to everyone.”
The council hopes the “green market” will become an annual event in the town’s promotional calendar.
