Springbok team arrives in town

A SOUTH African cricket team will arrive in Warrington tomorrow (Saturday) to start a tour.
It’s not the Springbok side which will start a three match Test series against England on July 10 – but a unique, first ever cricketing visit to Birchwood High School by its South African partner school, Groenberg Secondary.
A partnership between the two schools was launched four years ago and there have been annual visits by staff and pupils.
But it is the first time a cricket tour has been arranged.
It was organised after Birchwood donated some cricket equipment to the South African school.
Apart from playing cricket, the 14 South African youngsters will also visit Warrington Wolves, Lancashire’s Old Trafford cricket ground, Manchester United, Alton Towers and Chester.
They will also pay an official visit to the Mayor of Warrington, Coun Graham Wellborn, on Monday, June 30, when they will take afternoon tea.
