A PETITION supported by nearly 800 has helped push through plans for a Warrington cafe to be extended.
Warrington Borough Council’s Development Control Committee gave the green light to plans to extended Hopkinson’s Delicatessen Cafe at The Cross, Lymm after receiving a petition containing 779 signatures in support of the application.
Letters from 11 others were also received by the committee in full support of the proposal, saying it was a popular asset for the village.
One supporter stated: “This cafe provides an excellent service and I understand it intends to provide an upstairs restaurant for evening dining. This will be a welcome addition to the facilities of Lymm.”
Lymm Parish Council and two local neighbours had originally objected to the plans, stating it would be an over development of the village centre, would be detrimental to the street and river scene, and would cause a loss of privacy to nearby properties.
Hopkinson’s no longer operates as a delicatessen and the development will now allow the cafe to be moved up stairs.
