800 support cafe expansion plan

1

NEARLY 800 people have signed a petition supporting a café’s plans to extend upwards to provide an additional dining area.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme at Hopkinson’s delicatessen and café at The Cross, Lymm be approved.
But Lymm Parish Council has lodged an objection on the grounds of over-development and damage to the street scene.
Two residents have also objected because the building is in the Lymm Conservation Area and approval could result in other historic buildings being jeopardised.
Hopkinson’s no longer operate as a delicatessen and the extension would enable the café to be extended upstairs.
Planners say the extension would enable the expansion of an existing facility and would not damage the conservation area nor the amenities of nearby residents.
In addition to the petition, 11 people have written letters supporting the scheme and saying it would enhance a much needed and popular asset to the village.

  1. This cafe provides an excellent service and I understand it intends to provide an upstairs restaurant for evening dining. This will be a welcome addition to the facilities of Lymm and should be allowed. The parish council doesn’t know what it is talking about on this particular issue
