A RETROSPECTIVE planning application by a Warrington nursery for a “log cabin” visitor centre is being recommended for approval despite objections.
Warrington’s Development Control Committee will consider the application by Caddicks Clematis Nursery, of Lymm Road, Thelwall next week.
The application is for a 68.4 square meter log cabin, with toilets, a small shop, display areas and education and meeting rooms, together with office and staff facilities.
The development already attracts a number of visitors including coach parties and the application also seeks retention of a raised area of hard standing, and the and grassing over of the area.
Planners are recommending approval subject to conditions.
Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council object saying the development conflicts with policies for Green Belt land and it is concerned about the drainage and visual impact caused by the raising of part of the land.
Members are also concerned that intensification of use is likely to cause additional traffic on Lymm Road, and at the junction of Lymm Road and Stockport Road. They are also concerned about parking on site.
Two letters of objection from neighbours say the development will add to existing problems of flooding, is out of character in a Green Belt area and that access via a small bridge could result in traffic congestion.
