Town centre wind turbine unveiled

WARRINGTON town centre’s first wind turbine is to be officially unveiled today (Friday).
Helen Jones, the MP for Warrington North will perform the ceremony at the North West Development Agency’s headquarters at Renaissance House, on Centre Park.
Warrington Wolves stars Steve Pickersgill and Chris Bridge will also be present, along with members of the team responsible for creating the innovative turbine.
The ceremony comes ahead of World Environment Day on June 5.
Standing at almost 25 metres high, the turbine will feed directly into the NWDA’s electrical supply and will have a CO2 emission saving of 9,675kg per year.
Statistics relating to the energy generated will be displayed on an interactive monitor in the agency’s reception area following the launch.
The turbine has been generating power for some time.
