A FATHER and daughter from Culcheth, Warrington, spurred each other on to complete the Windermere Marathon and help raise cash for charity.
Becky Butterfield, 26, and her dad David, 64, completed the course, in a time of four hours 27 minutes and 47 seconds.
And Becky, a former pupil of Culcheth High School, has been training hard for the event since December, running up to 50 miles each week. She has also completed four 20 mile runs.
Becky, who now lives in Lancaster, was inspired to run by her dad who has been running over the past 40 years.
She said: “This was my first marathon. It was a really good day and we both enjoyed it.”
David, previously of Doeford Close, Culcheth, recently moved to Lancaster. He came tenth in the Masters over 60’s age group.
Becky, who specialises in family law at a Lancaster law firm, ran to raise money for Lancaster and District Women’s Aid (LDWA), and has so far collected more than £700.
She said: “LDWA has a reputation for helping those in need at the most difficult time. I am delighted to be supporting this great cause through my efforts.”
