A TECHNOLOGY company was left £55,000 out of pocket after being targeted by thieves.
Three men raided the premises on Centre Park in Warrington town centre, making off with expensive computers and two specialist USB Dongles.
Kieran Knight, 23, of Arundel Avenue, Flixton, Manchester, pleaded guilty to burglary at Warrington Crown Court and was given a nine month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
He was also ordered to complete 200 hours unpaid work and pay £180 costs.
Joanne Parsons, prosecuting, said security staff at the company’s premises had spotted three males putting computer equipment into a vehicle on January 16 this year.
One guard saw knight by a fire exit after he dropped a laptop on the floor and challenged him.
Ms Parsons said Knight attempted to escape by jumping off the exit steps, breaking his ankle in the process before being held by guards until the police arrived.
The other two offenders escaped.
Kerry Morgan, defending, said the only reason the case was being heard in Crown Court was the value of equipment taken. The USB Dongles were worth around £20,000 each because they had special licences.
Knight had got into serious financial difficulties, which is why he had committed the offence in the first place.
