A NEW grant scheme to help disadvantaged people in Warrington enter the employment market has been launched.
More than £250,000 is available over the next three years under a Community Grant Scheme for voluntary groups in Cheshire, Warrington and Halton.
Learning Together Cheshire and Warrington (LTCW) has won the Learning and Skills Council contract to deliver the scheme to help disadvantaged people improve their chances of finding work.
The grant scheme was launched at the Learning Network Meeting in Warrington where voluntary groups were invited to apply for funding.
Chris Baker, chief officer of LTCW, said: “This funding is a great opportunity for the local voluntary sector to develop imaginative ways of making contact and working with a range of disadvantaged groups in the community to improve their quality of life.”
Any voluntary groups interested in the funding should contact LTCW on
01244 320528, or visit the website www.learning-together.co.uk
Possible projects may include taster work experience including voluntary work, training advice and guidance, confidence building and job assistance search.
