Action group to fight housing plan

IRATE residents have formed an action group in opposition to a new housing development.
Two members of Stockton Heath Parish Council have agreed to join the group fighting plans for 50 houses on land adjoining Montclare Crescent and Ackers Road.
Conservative councillors Steven Taylor and Sonia Boggan agreed to join the action group after attending a meeting on the site.
Plans for the scheme are due to be unveiled at the end of May.
Resident Phil McConnell attended a meeting of the parish council to oppose the plans only to be told they had no knowledge of it.
So he called the site meeting after distributing about 30 leaflets to neighbouring houses.
He said: “The response was great. As far as I’m concerned the field is green belt land. I’ve watched teenagers play for hours on there in the spring, summer and autumn.
“There are far too many developments springing up around here and that field is the only green space left.”
A resident of Ackers Road added: “This a natural green space enjoyed by residents for many years. The potential loss of this asset is a major concern to residents.”
