Tip inquiry nears its end

THE public inquiry into the controversial proposals to extend the Risley Landfill site is due to end on Thursday (May 15) – after over-running by several days.
A change of venue will be necessary for the final day so the hearing will be held at the Pyramid Centre, in Palmyra Square South, Warrington instead of the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The hearing will start at 10am and is expected to be over by 5pm.
Biffa Waste Services are seeking planning consent to extend the landfill site in an easterly direction and on green belt land..
They are opposed by Warrington Borough Council, the Council for the Protection of Rural England and a number of parish councils including Culcheth and Glazebury, Croft and Birchwood.
Members of the public are still entitled to attend the hearing – and to make representations
