Students lend a hand in Europe

COLLEGE students have been lending a hand in countries across Europe as part of their first year course.
Six students from Warrington’s Priestley College ventured to Spain, France and Germany to gain first hand experience of the differing cultures.
Emma Heaton, Nicole McEntee and Seb O’Hara visited the Spanish city of Granada to work in a clothes shop, nursery and mountain climbing outlet respectively.
Two others from the group, Phil Cooper and Hope Nelson, visited Rouen in France where they worked as a lifeguard and solicitor’s assistant.
Nicole Sharman completed the list of the foreign adventurers by working in a nursery in the German city of Koblenz.
Seb commented: “Working in a shop meant that I had a high involvement in the business and benefited greatly from speaking and interacting with customers. For the first couple of days it was really nerve racking but as time passed I felt more at ease, which allowed me to take a lot from the trip.”
Hope added: “My time was spent meeting clients every day and then attending a French court of law. The experience was really good. I made plenty of new friends and it has given me the appetite to continue studying languages as I have the ambition to work in foreign countries as a war correspondent.”
