Prisoners in fight

THREE prisoners and a warder were taken to hospital after fighting broke out at Risley Prison, near Warrington.
Two of the inmates are still in hospital being treated for serious injuries.
One has been treated and returned to the prison and the prison officer has been discharged from hospital and gone off duty.
Police are investigating the incident which involved a fight in the prison exercise yard.

  1. I wish the prison officer a speedy recovery. This shows what a dangerous job these guys have and how little support is forthcoming to the prison service from outside agencies such as government. No wonder there is a high turnover of staff and morale is on the floor. It seems to me reading the papers that people are quick to knock the prison service but forget that a lot of the staff have a difficult job to do as they are working with the dregs of society.

    I know from friends in the prison service that they are underfunded, under resourced and undervalued. Would that they (not to mention nurses, police etc) be given a pay increase in line with the MPs recent one.
