College has music taped

MUSIC Technology students from Warrington’s Priestley College welcomed professional musicians the Carlton Ensemble to their recording studios.
Students had to set up microphones and recording equipment for the Manchester based string quartet, before recording their sounds as part of the A-Level course.
The recordings will now be used as part of the group’s course work, which equates to 70 per cent of their overall mark at AS-Level.
The event was able to take place thanks to the latest campus development programme which saw the opening of the Media and Performing Arts Centre with its professional music editing, recording and performance spaces.
Music Technology teacher Michael Grainger said: “It is great for students to work with professional musicians. The standard of playing was really high and this has been reflected in the coursework produced.”
