LIGHTNING struck a new house at Warrington during a freak storm.
The chimney stack was demolished, showering bricks and masonry on to a car parked below.
But the occupants of the house in Baltimore Drive, Chapelford – near the former Burtonwood air base – were unhurt.
Fire crews were called to the area to make the property safe.
The family were evacuated and the area cordoned off.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “There was quite serious damage to the house. We cordoned it off pending a visit by a structural engineer.”
The storm hit Warrington during the afternoon yesterday (Monday).
