Warrington Town 2 Kidsgrove Athletic 2

WARRINGTON Town handed a first team start to new Argentine goalkeeper Diego Bassanini in blustery conditions at Cantilever Park.
The Wire started well and had the first effort of note when Gavin Lynch’s header struck the bar.
Kevin Towey squandered a decent chance when put through and Kidsgrove themselves looked dangerous as Lennon drove a shot wide of target.

It took until the 41st minute for the home side to break the deadlock as Carl Rendell swivelled to strike shot under the advancing Kidsgrove keeper.
Town then fell victim to a harsh refereeing decision at the beginning of the second half as he controversially gave the visitors a penalty, which Richard Eyres duly converted.
Just five minutes later Kidsgrove were in front as Town old boy Ryan Baker found the net after a neat pass from Michael Lennon.
On 77 minutes The Wire grabbed an equaliser when Ben Heath’s determination paid off, allowing Gavin Lynch to scramble the ball home.
Lynch came close to winning it in the dying moments for Warrington, but his lob looped just over the bar.
