Family feud led to bushwhacking!

A LONG-standing feud between two Warrington families resulted in a man suffering a broken arm when he was “bushwacked” in the early hours of the morning.
Adrian Skrivanos, 38, attacked James Steinnegger with a metal pole.
Mr Steinnegger told police later his attacker swung the pole “with enough power to take my head off,” Warrington Crown Court was told.
Skrivanos, of Miles Close, Birchwood, Warrington admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm and was jailed for 12 months.
Simon Medland, prosecuting, said Mr Steinnegger was leaving his flat with his partner in the early hours of the morning when Skrivanos approached him from a “secreted position” and struck him with the pole.
Mr Steinnegger raise his forearms in front of his face for protection and suffered a broken arm, cuts and bruising.
Simeon Evans, defending, said the incident was the culmination of a year-long feud between the two families, with numerous complaints against Mr Steinnegger and his family being received by police.
He claimed police had recorded death threats and threats to petrol bomb his house by Mr Steinnegger on the defendant.
On one occasion a group of men armed with machetes visited Skrivanos’ house.
The court was also told that when police went to Mr Steinnegger’s home over the threats, they discovered a machete and sword cover in an upstairs room.
Mr Evans added that Skrivanos was a family man who acted out of character and was now going through a divorce because of the stress the saga had put on his relationship.
Judge Nicholas Woodward told Skrivanos: “It is clear there has been a history of difficulties between you, but that does not excuse your behaviour on that day. You waylaid this man, effectively bushwhacking him.
“People who attack others with weapons and cause serious injury should expect to go to prison.”
