Primrose and blue bride
is Wolves “fan of the year”

by James Parr

A DIE-hard fan who themed her wedding on Warrington Wolves has been named as the club?s ?Fan of the Year?.
Angela Potter, 41, clinched the award after dedicating her special day to the team she has supported since childhood.
Bridesmaids wore blue, guests drank blue champagne, the wedding car was a vintage blue vehicle and Angela even sported a garter with the Wolves emblem on it at her wedding to Paul Potter.
As one of the eight winners of the Lloyds TSB “fan of the month” award, Angela only received the news that she had scooped the prize for Fan of the Year when she returned from her honeymoon.
Angela said: “It was the perfect end to a wonderful wedding and holiday. It meant a lot to win a Fan of the Month award but to be voted Warrington Wolves’ Fan of the Year is even better.”
Both Angela and husband Paul have been supporting Warrington all their lives and even met at a Wolves game.
She said: “My husband and I live and breathe Rugby League. We went to the last game of the season in Salford on the night before our wedding, standing at opposite ends of the stadium to make sure we didn’t see each other.”
Initially nominated by her mum, Angela was August’s Fan of the Month winner for having a Wolves crest leaded window in her home, and a modified blue Vauxhall Corsa with rugby tops as seat covers and a large emblem across the bonnet.
Local director for Lloyds TSB in Warrington Ken Lockett said: “We created the awards scheme as part of our six-figure sponsorship of the club, to highlight and showcase the most passionate Wolves fans and reward them for their support.
“Angela is a deserving winner. She has owned a season ticket for 35 years and knows the game inside out after playing women’s rugby at international level. We are happy that the scheme has given Angela recognition of her lifelong commitment and that she’s had the chance to meet her favourite players.”
Ken presented Angela with her award at the club along with Wolves star Adrian Morley at the club?s end of season dinner.
