The flash backs and jumps from one period to the next confused even those of us that have read the history. Even more confusing were the battle scenes, which failed to explain the tactical inovations that Alexander employed to win battles against vastly superior numbers and placed phalanx and cavalry in a jungle enviroment in which they would find it impossible to operate effectively. Whilst films are time limited, saliant battles were omitted – the conquest of Greece (Charonea); battles of the Granicus, Issus and the siege of Tyre.
