LABOUR have retained the Glazebury and Mee Brow seat on Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council following a by election caused by the resignation of former councillor Dave Robb, who is leaving the area.
Joan Grime was elected with 67 per cent of the vote in a 24 per cent poll.
The result was: Joan Grime (Labour) 236; Sue Bland (Conservative) 115.
After the result was announced, Mrs Grime said: “I am delighted that the residents of Mee Brow, Fowley Common and Glazebury have put their trust and faith in me at this election. I will not let them down.
“As their parish councillor, I will work hard alongside councillors Chris Vobe, Matt Smith and Helen Jones MP to deliver on Labour’s commitments to our community.
“Over the course of this election, I have been overwhelmed by the encouragement and support I’ve received from people across the villages. I can’t wait to get straight down to work.”
