A GOVERNMENT-appointed planning inspector has upheld an appeal by a Culcheth resident against the refusal by Warrington Borough Council to grant permission for home extensions.
The appeal was by Mrs Angie Hindmarch and involved converting a garage into an annex at her home in Lodge Drive, with a first floor extension above the garage and a two-storey extension at the rear.
There was also a proposal for a dropped kerb to provide an in-out driveway.
The inspector, Mr G M Garnham, concluded there were no highway safety issues and that the proposals would not materially harm the living conditions of neighbours
However, he imposed a condition that obscure glazing be used in the first floor extension to prevent overlooking resulting in a serious loss of privacy for a neighbour.
