CHANCELLOR George Osborne’s Autumn statement is “excellent news” for families in Warrington, according to Parliamentary hopeful Richard Short.
The Warrington North Prospective Parliamentary candidate (pictured) says reform of stamp duty will cut taxes for the overwhelming majority of people trying to buy a house in the borough.
He added: “But it’s the personal allowance rise I welcome most of all. It can’t be right that the hard earned wages that families need to put food on the table and roof over their head is taxed.
“We should not tax wages needed for essentials. As the economy keeps improving I’ll be fighting to increase allowances to take anyone on less than the living wage out of income tax altogether.
“We must carry on working through our plan and stay on course to prosperity.”
Mr Short said new forecasts for the British economy in the Autumn Statement showed the Government’s long-term economic plan is working. The deficit would be halved this year, growth was forecast at three per cent and unemployment was down.
