THE grand Winter Festival and Christmas Market at Warrington Collegiate was a huge success, raising money for St Rocco’s Hospice.
Crowds flocked to the college at the weekend to buy Christmas presents, crafts and trees as well as enjoying hot food and the seasonal treats on offer.
Three choirs, the Wire Choir, the Woolston Signing Children’s Choir and Wired for Sound added to the festive feel with music and Christmas Carols.
Scott Surtess, Lecturer in Catering at Warrington Collegiate together with students studying Hospitality and Catering, opened Buckley’s restaurant to serve hungry visitors with a range of home-cooked fayre including delicious soups and tasty braised steak and red cabbage with mulled wine to get everyone in the Christmas mood.
Nicky Bradley who visited with her family and three children, Daisy,
Mollie and George, enthused: “The children loved it – there were lots of
activities to keep them occupied while the adults enjoyed a wander
round the different stalls.
“There was so much to see and buy; we
enjoyed it even more than the Manchester Markets. I‘m really looking
forward to coming again next year.”
Generous staff and students at the college created a grand Christmas Food hamper that was raffled for charity, raising over £200 for St Rocco’s Hospice
Despite a busy schedule, Father Christmas, popular with young and old alike, dropped in to enjoy some festive fun at the college.
