A MAN has been jailed for four years and five months at Warrington Crown court after admitting attempted robbery and assaulting a police officer.
He was Andrew Parton, 24, from Runcorn who also asked for an offence of possessing a knife to be taken into consideration.
The court was told the attempted robbery took place on Sunday May 25 when the victim, a 23-year-old man was cycling towards a bus stop on Hospital Way in Runcorn.
When he attempted to pass him, Parton forced him towards a railing at the side of the road and then threatened him with a knife.
An attempt was also made to take his bike.
Detective Constable Marc Roberts said: “The victim was left badly shaken. The court result sends a clear message that if you commit this kind of crime in Cheshire you will be brought to account for your actions.”
