CHESHIRE Fire and Rescue Service will be offering comprehensive safety advice in Birchwood over two days in May.
Warrington and Halton Community Fire Protection officers, along with operational firefighters from Birchwood Fire Station, will be at Birchwood Shopping Centre between 10am and 3pm on the 8th and 9th of May to give business and residential safety advice.
They will be visiting businesses to give fire safety and business continuity advice, as well as gathering information on fire safety compliance. This is to help highlight to businesses the steps they need to take to keep themselves and their properties safe from fire, and to advise business owners of their responsibilities under current fire legislation, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order) 2005.
Head of Community Fire Protection, Area Manager Keith Brooks, said: “We are committed to helping businesses protect themselves, their customers and their properties from fire and arson, all of which can have a devastating impact. This event is a way of engaging with people and passing on vital messages.
“It is estimated that up to 80% of businesses are seriously affected following a fire and many never recover. Simple measures can be taken which can significantly reduce the threat.”
The Service’s kitchen safety outreach vehicle will be there with community safety advocates providing both kitchen and general fire safety advice to members of the public throughout the two days.
