A FAMILY business which has been serving the local community for more
than half a century is set to close down at the end of the month.
Changing times including the growth of cut price supermarket fuel has brought about the final curtain call for the family run business.
The Parry Family moved into Rushgreen Service Station at Lymm in April 1965 with a haulage business and developed it over the past 49 years.
Ann Scales and her brother John Parry, have been the faces of the business for many years and have witnessed many changes in that time.
Ann said: “We went Self Service in the mid 1980s and have always given personal service.
“We have served the local community and been a community hub for information and assistance.”
John added: “In 1965 1 gallon of petrol was 4s 10 1/2d – Now it’s £6.00 a Gallon!”
Mot & Servicing has been carried out by staff who have been with at the garage since leaving School with David Hipperson and Barry Jolley providing 39 and 38 years loyal service.
Ann said: “We would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication . We have been like a family working together.
“I would also like to thank Joel, Chloe, Sarah and Connor Ellerton-Baines and Tom Bracegirdle who have all worked at the garage from age 16 years.”
“We would like to thank our ‘Loyal’ customers who have been with us through thick and thin and we have built up many friendships.
“We have always used local suppliers where possible and also recommended local businesses.
She added: “We have supported many local charities, churches and schools over the years selling tickets and we are sorry that another Lymm village family business has to Close.
“We would also like to thank Gary and team at Lymm Life fortheir support for the Village.
