Flood warnings lifted

THE Environment Agency has withdrawn its flood warnings for the Warrington area.
Tides on the Mersey turned out to be less high than expected and no reports of serious flooding have been received.
But a flood alert remains in force for the Mersey Estuary between Warrington and Liverpool – meaning that flooding is still possible and that the public should be prepared. The alert applies to both sides of the river.
A number of roads in the town were temporarily closed to traffic – including the Riverside Retail Park.
But after 12.30pm, when the tide peaked, they were re-opened.
