Labour line-up for next year's elections

LABOUR have announced their candidates for the borough council elections in South Warrington next May.
They are hoping to build on their successes in the May 2012 elections when it captured borough and parish council seats in Lymm, Grappenhall and Thelwall and Stockton Heath, in addition to a string of successes north of the Manchester ship canal.
Nick Bent, the party’s Parliamentary candidate for Warrington South, said: “With David Cameron’s Tories still prioritising tax cuts for
millionaires and ignoring the cost of living crisis that affects many families, I hope even more people will back our strong local Labour team. Only Labour under Ed Miliband is offering credible and practical support to boost job creation, wages, childcare support and new homes.”
All sitting Labour councillors have been re-selected and a strong
team of new candidates was chosen to take on the Tories and Lib Dems.
New candidates are:
Latchford West: Les Morgan – a founder member of St Werburgh’s
community centre in Latchford and a committed volunteer there. He was a full-time branch secretary with the GMB trade union and is a father of four and a grandfather of eight.
Whittle Hall: Karen Mundry – a senior nursery practitioner and a former
borough councillor.
Grappenhall and Thelwall: Tom Jennings – a professional youth worker and
a parish councillor in Grappenhall. At 19, Tom is the youngest councillor in Warrington and one of the youngest in the country. A former Priestley College student, he was the Member of the Youth Parliament for Warrington South.
Great Sankey North: Andy Heaver – he worked in production and operations
management in manufacturing and is a parish councillor in Penketh. He is a passionate advocate for disabled people’s rights and the NHS.
Lymm: Sean Chapman – chairman of Lymm Labour Party and a former local
government officer in St Helen’s, where he supported young homeless people.
Appleton: Andy Davidson – a dedicated volunteer who works in IT for a
large company in Runcorn.
Existing councillors seeking re-election will be:
Bewsey and Whitecross: Cllr Pat Wright; Penketh: Cllr David Keane; Great Sankey South: Cllr Hitesh Patel; Latchford East: Cllr Steve Wright.
There will be no borough elections in Stockton Heath or Hatton, Stretton and Walton next year.

  1. Might be something to do with his hunger for publicity….

If this is the best that labour can offer, we should just congratulate David Mowatt on his 2nd term now,.

  2. I don’t know why they bother. It’s not as if they actually improve the Communities, just toe the party line which is usually at odds with what the electorate wants. Although occasionally we get one with principles, but look what happens then.

  3. “With David Cameron’s Tories still prioritising tax cuts for millionaires”………. so that will include the seven millionaires in the shadow cabinet (plus Red Ed is reputed to be worth a couple of million) plus the dozen or so other MP’s, advisors and supporters that Ed hangs out with; maybe Mr Bent shouldn’t throw them stones too close to Millibands £1.6million glass house?
