Warrington remembers fallen heroes

WARRINGTON’S fallen heroes were amongst those remembered during the annual service of remembrance at the Cenotaph war memorial on Bridge Foot today.
Glorious sunshine greeted large crowds at the service which was led by Lt Col. Les Taylor-Duff TD who said: “They shall grow not old, as we that are left to grow old, Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.”
Prayers and readings were led by Rev Canon Christopher Cunningham, Roman Catholic Dean of Warrington, Afthkar Quayyum representing
Council of Faiths, The Mayor’s Chaplain Revd Stephen Kingsnorth, David McDonald the Free Church civic representative with the final prayer and blessing given by Revd Paul Wilson, the Rector of Warrington.
Families of Warrington’s various fallen heroes were in attendance and laid wreaths.
Local soldier Tom Coleridge, (pictured top) who was seriously injured in Afghanistan three years ago when he was aged 19, was also in attendance and laid a wreath in memory of his fallen comrades.
Wreaths were laid by the Mayor of Warrington Cllr Peter Carey, Lord Doug Hoyle of Warrington, the town’s two MPs Helen Jones and David Mowat, and council representatives including Interim Chief Executive Steven Broomhead and Deputy Leader of the council Cllr Mike Hannon.
