Bank to move into supermarket

BARCLAYS is to close its branch at Birchwood, Warrington – and move staff and banking services into a nearby supermarket.
The bank says the move into Asda is an attempt to make banking “more convenient.”
Three other branches in Yorkshire, Hertfordshire and Kent are also to move into supermarkets.
Barclays say the move will make parking easier and that the branches involved have relatively low footfalls.
Bank staff will work during normal bank opening hours, with cash and cheque machines accessible during the supermarkets’ opening hours.
The Birchwood move will be the first and will take place in February.
Bank branches in supermarkets are common in the US.
