Warrington Youth Club set to launch Skills Bank

WARRINGTON Youth Club is set to provide further support for the young people across the town with the launch of a special “Skills Bank” On Saturday, December 7.
The aim of the venue based at the former Lloyds TSB Bank in Times Square, is to inspire and motivate young people and to develop their skills and support them into further training or employment.
The Skills Bank will include a state of the art gym; open for young people up to the age of 25 at a really low cost, along with regular fitness classes to develop fitness and motivation.
Warrington Youth Club will also be running a Job Club from the venue three days a week which will include activities such as CV writing, interview techniques and young people will have access to computers directly linked to employment and enterprise websites so they can research a number of opportunities.
Alongside the job club will be regular enterprise projects running as a three week programme for young people to develop their own business plan including marketing, budgets and creative ideas. They will have the opportunity to demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills and show how they can become the next Alan Sugar with a range of challenges.
The Skills Bank also houses “The Salon” where young people who are fully qualified hair stylists are able to rent a chair for up to a third of the price of a salon in the town centre to develop their skills and build up their client list.

Other schemes which will be running from The Skills Bank include National Citizen Service, Power in Partnership and Youth Graffiti Solutions.
The launch day runs from 11am-6pm and will include all of the programmes along with live DJ’s and bands, competitions and a job and apprenticeships fair.
