Foster child outcomes are outstanding.

OUTCOMES for children and young people dealt with by Warrington’s fostering service have been rated as “outstanding” by education watchdog Ofsted.
Inspectors rated five service areas – four of which they rated “good”.
They were overall effectiveness, quality of care, safeguarding children and young people and leadership and management.
The fifth heading – outcomes for children and young people – was rated “outstanding.”
Ofsted said the service is well-run by managers who have a clear understanding of priorities and who put the children and young people at the centre of their work.
The children, said the report, “make outstanding progress in achieving their potential in their educational aspirations” and “their life chances in future employment are significantly improved”.
The report praised the “excellent support and care of … foster carers”. Warrington’s foster carers, said the inspectors, are positively motivated and provide high standards of care, while the stability of foster homes clearly benefits children, some of whom said “I love my foster parents and they treat me as their own”.
The report also highlighted that children and young people have a strong voice in the organisation, that they influence service delivery, and that the service is good at keeping children and young people safe and feeling safe.
Inspectors say there is a positive culture permeating the organisation which places a positive emphasis on all children and young people receiving the best care.
It is a significant feature that staff refer to “our children” in all discussions, said the inspectors.
Cllr Colin Froggatt (pictured), the borough council’s lead member for children and young people said: “Warrington Fostering Service continues to achieve success and has made significant improvements in the last few years. This is testament to the professionalism of our team and foster carers who continually work hard and show enormous dedication so we can help more children in need of loving families.
“Finding permanent, loving homes for our children in care remains a top priority for Warrington Borough Council. Fostering is a hugely rewarding role and we work hard to ensure that the right children are matched with the right parents, and that they are all supported before, throughout and after the placement has been made.
“I would encourage anyone who is interested in fostering to contact the service and find out more about becoming a foster carer.”
