Peace campaigner visits school

PEACE campaigner Colin Parry – father of Tim Parry, who was killed in the Warrington bombings 20 years ago – visited Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School to talk to pupils.
He addressed 80 Year 11 pupils who are studying Irish history and answered questions about how he and his wife, Wendy, had responded to the tragedy.
Pupils had an opportunity to find out more about the Peace Centre at Great Sankey and the work that goes on there.
They also reflected on the significance of Mr Parry’s invitation to Martin McGuiness, a former IRA commander, to speak at this year’s Peace lecture. The event was streamed live to all tutor groups and the feedback suggests that pupils appreciated the opportunity to think deeply about the issues of peace and reconciliation.
At the end of the afternoon, Mr Parry was presented with money raised through a non-uniform day for peace at the school.
