Death of a music legend

LEN Andrews, legendary leader of Warrington Youth Band, has died at the age of 93.
Mr Andrews, who was awarded the MBE for his services to music, taught hundreds of young people in the town how to play music.
As musical director of the Youth Band, he led the parade on Warrington Walking Day, for more than 15 years and took part in the parade personally for more than 70 years.
His funeral takes place on Wednesday, September 25, at St Thomas’ Church, Stockton Heath, at 10.45am, followed by cremation at Walton Lea at 11.40am.
It is expected there will be hundreds of mourners at the service – many from abroad, including some from Warrington’s twin town, Hilden.
