Two in hospital after flat fire

A MAN and a child were taken to hospital at Warrington after fire broke out in a ground floor flat.
Firefighters were called to the flat in Grasmere Avenue, Orford after the blaze was reported.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire with a hose reel jet and then used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the property.
It is believed the blaze was caused by a fault on an extractor fan.
The two taken to hospital underwent precautionary checks and were not thought to be seriously affected.
In a separate incident, firefighters tackled a blaze involving a garden shed at a house in Charlton Street, Warrington. The fire had spread from a recycling bin and also affected a garden gate.
