Strike action looming on the buses

BUS company Network Warrington could be hit by a series of 24 hour strikes following a dispute over a pay freeze imposed

earlier this year.
It follows a work to rule and over time ban which started last weekend. Talks are set to take place between Network Warrington board members, union officials and staff next Tuesday evening to discuss pay issues and the way forward.
But if a compromise can not be reached the current continuous industrial action, consisting of a ban on overtime and a work to rule, will cease to be in effect at 23:59 hours next Thursday, September 12 – but will be followed by a series of 24 hour strikes.
Unite the Union intends to call all its members employed at Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington, Cheshire WA4 6PT to take part in discontinuous strike action consisting of series of 24 hours’ stoppages as follows:

• Commencing at 00:01 hours on Friday, September 13
• Commencing at 00:01 hours on Saturday, September 21
• Commencing at 00:01 hours on Sunday, September 29
• Commencing at 00:01 hours on Monday, October 7
• Commencing at 00:01 hours on Tuesday, October 15
• Commencing at 00:01 hours on Wednesday, October 23
• Commencing at 00:01 hours on Thursday, October 31

The Executive Directors along with the Chair are holding a closed mass meeting with the staff and Union next Tuesday (September 10) to
discuss pay issues and the way forward.
The Network Warrington website will be updated regularly to notify customers of any service cancellations and the company requests that customers visit the website before travelling www.networkwarrington.co.uk

  1. well judging by the empty buses you see travelling the streets; no one will notice them being on strike…. and if they don’t pay the drivers that is a saving that should be passed onto the few customers they do have in the way of fare reductions
