STOCKTON Heath Medical Centre is to open its’ doors for patients to see behind the scenes on Saturday September 21, 11am to 1pm.
Focus of the open day is to highlight the services offered by the practice team alongside health promotion service providers.
General Practice faces a difficult task in meeting the demands of an ageing population who have more chronic diseases and complex health needs. Members of the team will be on hand to answer questions about the work they do.
Dr Graham Palmer, senior partner, said: “I think it is good to see how much varied hard work goes on at the medical centre. Meeting people in a relaxed setting on a Saturday allows constructive views to be exchanged. I hope as in previous years this will be a positive experience enhancing people’s understanding of the workings of a busy General Practice”
Mini health checks will be available to check blood pressure, height, weight and offer lifestyle advice. The team are hoping to target people who have not attended the practice in the last 2-3 years.
Representatives of the Patient Participation Group will be attending. They will explain the work they do to support the practice team.
Service providers such as chiropractor David Cooper, physiotherapist Sheila Nesbitt and Pilates instructor Tanya Loxham will be present and there will be presentations on smoking cessation and alcohol awareness” will attend to explain their services.
There will also be a “Carers’ Corner” and signposting to services for adults and young carers.
