A COUPLE have won a planning battle to demolish a bungalow at Grappenhall and build a pair of semi-detached houses on the site.
Warrington Borough Council refused permission for the scheme in Clarence Road in January but Mr and Mrs Colin Bland appealed and a Government-appointed inspector, Farooq Rafiq, has upheld their appeal.
He said the main issue was the effect of the proposed new houses on two existing hojusing in Clarence Road with regard to outlook and daylight.
The proposed development be closer to and higher than the existing bungalow to both neighbouring properties and would have two storeys with accommodation in the roof. However, the relationship with its neighbours would not be significantly different to that which already existed between other two-storey dwelling in the area.
He was satisfied it would not result in material harm to the living conditions of neighbours.
