Power cut hits theme park

A POWER failure brought fun to a standstill at Warrington’s Gulliver’s World theme park today.
Rides ground to a halt – and a number of children were trapped some 40ft above ground level on the “Wild Mine” ride.
They were rescued by members of the theme park staff.
The power cut – the cause of which is not yet known – lasted for about 45 minutes but the youngsters were trapped on the ride for only about 10 minutes.
Catering outlets were unable to serve hot drinks and refrigeration units were affected. Even the theme park’s telephone system was hit by the outage.
A number of school parties were in the park at the time, celebrating the start of the summer holidays.
But it is understood no-one was hurt.
After power was restored, visitors were able to carry on enjoying the park’s features.
