MP hails business start-up figures

WARRINGTON tops the charts for business start-ups outside of London, according to new figures.
London dominates the top 20, with places such as “Silicon Roundabout” and Canary Wharf filling all but three of the highest places, with Warrington coming in at 14th.
WA1 is one of the only postcodes outside of the M25 which makes the top 20, with more than 1,510 start-ups in the last 12 months – mostly in the nuclear and energy sector supply chains.
David Mowat MP for Warrington South, said: “These figures prove what I have been telling my colleagues in Government for some time – Warrington is the emerging economic powerhouse in the north west of England.
“Businesses are taking advantage of Warrington’s great transport links and its highly skilled and motivated workforce to create jobs and prosperity in the future.”
The figures were released by Accountants UHY Hacker Young, based on Freedom of Information requests and show the numbers of new businesses registered in each postcode.
