AN Appleton man has launched a fundraising campaign to highlight the work of disability charity Brainwave.
Jonathan Levy, aged 22 aims to become a Brainwave “Champion” by raising £1,000 over the next 12 months for the charity’s North West centre based in Birchwood, which works with families to deliver home-based therapy programmes to children with a disability or development delay.
Jonathan, who has a mild form of dyspraxia, a neurological condition which affects movement and co-ordination, will be using his many friends and contacts and holding a number of fundraising challenges across the region in order to hit his target.
He said: “The Brainwave programme does tremendous work to change the lives of young people all over the country. When I was younger I took part in a similar programme so I know that the hard work, determination and effort put in by all involved makes a huge difference and gives parents hope for the future.
“The North West centre in Birchwood is a fantastic facility which receives no government or statutory funding so it’s incredibly important to promote the work of this great charity. I’ll be doing everything I can to raise £1,000. Failure isn’t an option.”
