LABOUR party activists in Warrington celebrated the 65th anniversary of the National Health Service with a street stall in the town centre.
They also used the occasion to highlight what they claim is a threat to health services from the Coalition Government.
A total of 553 people signed a petition calling on David Cameron to “stop breaking his promises on the NHS.”
Some 2,500 leaflets were handed out to passing shoppers, scores of balloons were given to children.
More than 20 Labour Party volunteers were involved in the event.
On July 18, Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham is to visit Warrington.
Nick Bent (pictured) Prospective Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Warrington South, said: “Many shoppers had positive stories to tell about NHS care but real fears were expressed about whether the NHS will still be there for them and their families in the future, and most people agreed that this country simply cannot trust David Cameron with the NHS.”
