WARRINGTON students are showcasing their flair for fashion in the town centre.
A selection of first and second year Warrington Collegiate fashion students are displaying their fashionable designs in mannequin boxes throughout the Golden Square shopping centre.
Becky Rogers, lecturer in art, design and fashion at Warrington Collegiate says, “We are very proud to be given such a great opportunity and exposure for these four young designers, all of which are able to showcase their own style and creativity to such a wide audience.”
First year students Jay Chan, 16, explores paper and origami while Olivia Bass, 17, has taken a modernistic approach to her design.
Jay Chan said: “I’d love to start my own clothing line in the future and develop my career in fashion hotspots like London and Hong Kong.”
Second year student Ashleigh Kerslake, 18, whose design reflects the 90’s club scene, is due to undertake an internship as a Hollyoaks junior stylist this summer.
During her course Amy Smith, also 18, was lucky enough to work with the prestigious JD Williams gaining experience in buying and styling, as part of a work placement.
Shopping centre manager Ian Cox said: “We’re keen to support and help Warrington’s up and coming young people and Golden Square is an ideal location for young designers to showcase their talent. It’s not easy getting a foot on the fashion ladder these days so I hope that a bit of exposure will help them on their way to achieving their dreams of working in the industry.”
Fashionistas are encouraged to ‘like’ their favourite design on Golden Square’s Facebook page. The winning budding designer will win a £100 gift voucher.
