WARRINGTON Town manager Shaun Reid will open the new state-of-the-art all-weather pitch at Whitecross Community Centre on Saturday (July 6).
The first game to be played on the new all-weather pitch will be a football match between Whitecross Community FC and a mixed team from Cheshire Police and Warrington Borough Council (1.15pm).
The community centre is issuing an open invitation to enter a Lads and Dads rugby challenge competition on the day. Entry to the competition will be free, and medals will be awarded at a presentation at 3.45 p.m.
There is also a free football taster session available for children over six years old (2.30pm) and other activities, including face painting and cake decorating.
Cllr Pat Wright, the executive board member for adult services, said: “The day will provide a chance for residents and visitors to see everything that Whitecross Community Centre has to offer. The centre managers will be on hand to chat to visitors and will welcome ideas for other activities that people might like to see.”
