Green light for Reserves

WARRINGTON Town’s development of local young talent received a major boost when the club’s application to run a reserve team in the Cheshire League was approved – despite opposition from two local clubs.
Following the league’s AGM it was agreed to increase the Cheshire League second division to 17 teams, to accommodate Warrington’s proposed new reserve team and two other successful applicants Sale Town and Barnton Wanderers.
Warrington have decided to reform a reserve team to help with the club’s youth development following a highly successful season for the Unders 18s, who secured a league and cup double.
The reserve team will provide a stepping stone to help keep the older players in the youth team together, while also providing important match day action for fringe members of the first team squad, or for players coming back after injury.
Director of Football Toby Macormac said: “We are delighted to have had our application to re-join the Cheshire League accepted.
“It will provide the ideal platform for our youth development and provide a natural route of progression at the club.
