Office developers given more time

DEVELOPERS Capital and Provincial have been extra time to start work on a major office building at Warrington in view of the economic downturn.
Plans for the four-storey building adjacent to Stanford House, Garrett Field, Birchwood originally date from 2010.
Members of the borough council development management committee were told there did not appear to be any material changes from when the scheme was first submitted.
However, changes in national planning legislation setting out a strong presumption in favour of sustainable development meant there was now a stronger case for granting planning permission than previously.
Concerns had been expressed about the loss of car parking, in view of problems in the area, but the proposal made provision for replacement parking for Stanford House. It was not considered the scheme would give rise to amenity problems for nearby residential property.
The nearest homes were in Heather Close – more than 40 metres away.
Councillors approved the extension – subject to development starting within three years.
