Major contract for web specialist

A WARRINGTON-based web specialist has won a major contract with a local authority as well as being appointed onto the Government’s G-Cloud III procurement framework.
Ixis, specialists in open source content management software Drupal, has secured work with Bristol City Council to provide support and consultancy on their digital presence.
The new win comes as Ixis is approved onto the third iteration of the government purchasing programme, G-Cloud III, which aims to introduce cloud-based services into central government, local authorities and the wider public sector.
So far, Ixis has won contracts worth in excess of £500,000 through the G-Cloud procurement process.
Co-founder Mike Carter said: “It’s fantastic to see that the Government is embracing open source technology and the digital opportunities that Drupal provides to the public sector.
“Drupal works particularly well for local government because it is flexible and extensible, allowing you to quickly create, update and manage a website or web application.
“One of the core benefits of Drupal is that it is portable, so you are not locked in to any one provider and can switch suppliers easily or have multiple providers working on your site simultaneously. Many public sector and local council projects are perfect for Drupal as existing third party systems and software can easily be integrated into existing processes.
“G-Cloud III has opened the door to a wealth of new public sector contracts for us and has given us an opportunity as an SME to provide vital support to government organisations as they improve their digital services.”
