Political opponents celebrate 30 years!

THEY may be from opposition parties but long serving councillors Sheila Woodyatt and Mike Hannon are celebrating 30 years of uninterrupted service on Warrington Borough Council.
While Sheila is in the blue corner and at one time was the only Tory member of the council, Mike has been in the red corner and is currently deputy leader of the council – while both are former mayors.
As the longest serving members they are the “Mother and Father” of the council and while they may not always agree on politics they have the utmost respect for each other.
To mark the occasion they had a quiet celebration at the town hall mayor- making event, which marked their 30th anniversary, handing out chocolates to fellow members of the council.
Mike said: “We have not always seen eye to eye but we have an honest respect for each other.”
Sheila added: “Our politics may be different but we both have a common theme of serving the people of Warrington.”
