Police hunt for sex attacker

POLICE have released an e-fit of a man they want speak to after a woman was the victim of a serious sexual assault in Warrington.
Officers were called at 10.12pm on Saturday, May 18, where an 18-year-old woman reported she had been attacked inside a tent on Bennetts Recreation Ground in Padgate.
The victim had been staying in a grey two man dome tent with a friend since the Friday afternoon and the tent was set up near the football pitch.
During the early evening the victim was left alone and due to the weather overnight moved the tent under some trees for cover.
Whilst still alone the victim heard footsteps and assumed it was her friend returning. She was instead however confronted by a man she did not recognise who entered the tent.
She was then subjected to a serious sexual assault.
The offender is described as 5ft 8in with pale white skin. He was wearing a grey hooded top pulled up with ?cuffed? jeans elasticated at the ankle and dark trainers; he had dark gelled hair in a fringe style. He spoke with a Warrington accent.
Detective Sergeant Stuart Williams from the Dedicated Rape Unit said: “The victim is understandably very upset and shaken from her ordeal but has managed to provide us with enough information to produce this e-fit.
“If anyone recognises the man in the e-fit or was in the area around the time of the attack and saw anything suspicious I would urge you to contact me.”
Area Inspector Chris Adkins said: “I appreciate the community will be very concerned when they here about this incident and I want to reassure them that a team of officers are working to find whoever is responsible.
“Incidents like this are thankfully rare and I will have extra patrols out in the area and I would encourage anyone with any information or who has any questions to speak to them.”
